The Entranze Observatory is an independent editorial resource on building energy renovation in the European Union. It explains the rules and technologies that shape how Europe’s buildings use energy, from energy performance certificates (EPC) and minimum energy performance standards to heat pumps, insulation and the transition to zero-emission buildings.
Coverage spans the EU as a whole and the national approaches of individual member states, collected in the country profiles for EU member states. Analysis draws on publicly available sources: EU legislation, European Commission publications, Eurostat statistics, national agencies and peer-reviewed technical literature.
To make European building energy policy easier to understand and to follow. The recast Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, the Energy Efficiency Directive and the Renovation Wave set out obligations and deadlines that affect owners, tenants, designers and public authorities across the EU. The observatory sets out what those rules require, when they apply and what they mean in practice.
Articles rely on primary sources wherever possible, above all the legal texts published on EUR-Lex and the EPBD implementation deadlines they set. Figures are cited inline so that readers can trace each claim back to its origin. Where national rules or statistics change, articles are updated, and errors are corrected when they are identified.
The observatory publishes neutral, third-person analysis. It does not carry sponsored content and does not provide personalised energy audits or renovation advice; for project-specific questions, consult a certified energy assessor or the public renovation advice service in your member state.
